Joshua Ebrahimi, born to Iranian Jewish refugees, grew up in Queens, NY, and later in Great Neck. After earning a Political Science degree from Binghamton University and working in digital advertising, a solo backpacking trip through Europe reignited his passion for storytelling and filmmaking. He recently graduated from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, where he produced two thesis films and directed his own thesis project, The Expiration Date, a 17-minute narrative exploring psychological themes.

While Joshua aspires to produce and direct narrative films, he is also working on building a career in commercial directing. He has created spec commercials for brands like Peroni and Hostelworld, blending cinematic storytelling with a keen understanding of branding and audience engagement. He believes the boundary between narrative and commercial work is an exciting space for creative innovation.

Joshua is particularly drawn to psychological stories that explore the human condition, identity, and reckoning with hidden truths—a passion influenced by his upbringing in an insulated community and his own search for meaning. In his free time, he enjoys watching old movies at revival theaters, biking along the California coastline, and uncovering LA’s underground food gems. Just don’t call him a foodie—he swears he’s not trying to make it a thing.
